With over 28 years’ experience in the construction industry, Nick is skilled in the preparation of delay claims for clients, consultants and contractors. He is contractually and commercially astute having initially worked at the grass roots of the industry as an engineer, quantity surveyor and project manager for contractors before focusing on planning and delay. Having progressed from planner to senior project planner for main contractors in the UK, Nick has specialised in Consultancy as a forensic delay analyst for the last 10 years due to his extensive and wide-ranging experience.
How do you help clients?
I help clients by carrying out extension of time claims (and the defence of), prolongation cost assessments, disruption claims and concurrency assessments in expert reports and arbitration work.
I also help clients through project management and specifically my experience in project controls, both in the UK and MENA regions on projects up to $800m where I managed the project programme, risks and procedures.
Experience
- Independent Reports - Provided an independent delay analysis report in defence of a main contractor’s claim on a mixed-use development in Manchester City Centre.
- Covid-19 claims - Provided independent delay advise for a leading University in London in relation to a main contractor’s Covid-19 claims across numerous buildings under a bespoke contract for approximately £75m.
- Adjudication Report for a main contractor, Mayfair, London - Provided forensic as-built delay analysis and extension of time (EOT) report on a high-end hotel in London. Provided a windows analysis and assessed the critical delays per window.
- Highways (Roads and Bridge) development in Toronto - Provided detailed delay analysis and claims defence. Provided an independent delay analysis of the contractor’s EOT and cost claims and a project finance assessment based on the earned value analysis (EVA).
- Mixed--use development Dubai Creek - Provided a concurrency assessment for a project management company comprising of a retrospective time impact analysis to highlight all major delays in monthly windows including a concurrency ‘But For’ assessment.
