Expertise 

Calum advises on all matters relating to family law, including at the outset of relationships and in the event of a relationship breakdown. He represents clients during divorce and financial remedy cases and in the preparation of pre and post nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.

Calum has a particular interest in the separation of assets owned by unmarried couples and disputes involving the ownership of properties, and additionally financial provision for children under Schedule 1 Children Act. 

Experience

  1. Acting for a cohabitee to successfully establish an interest in a property to which she had contributed but which was held in the sole name of her former partner.
  2. Acting for a wife to capitalise a maintenance order over 20 years after the original order was made. This provided her with a sizeable lump sum to provide housing and a future income.
  3. Acting within divorce and financial remedy proceedings involving property, pensions and significant business assets held in an offshore trust.
  4. Acting within divorce and financial remedy proceedings involving a dispute over jurisdiction. Successfully established jurisdiction in England and Wales.
  5. Acting for a father in an application for the return of a child to this jurisdiction under the Hague Convention after the child and mother remained abroad at the conclusion of a planned holiday to see family.
