Gateley Capitus partnered with Moore Concrete Products to bring improved structure to their R&D tax claims process while ensuring to fully capture the tax benefits they’re entitled to.
Moore Concrete Products is a manufacturer of precast concrete products, initially supplying concrete products to the local agricultural market. Through continued investment in research and development, they have developed to offer high-quality precast concrete products providing innovative and flexible solutions within the agricultural, civils and building market sectors.
Moore Concrete Products undertakes continuous innovation in designing, developing, and manufacturing new products, as well as continually improving existing solutions and processes to enable its business to compete at the forefront of the precast industry throughout the UK and Ireland.
“Moore Concrete Products invests heavily into our staff and works hard to partner apprentices and young professionals with our experienced team members; this encourages a steady stream of new ideas and innovation in product designs and new product development. The R&D Tax Credit scheme provides an important part in funding this investment” revealed Allan Campbell, Finance Manager.
“Our commercial and technical teams listen to our customer requirements. We work hard to meet their expectations in bringing solutions to complex situations. Gateley Capitus is a trusted business partner in helping us to ensure our activities are qualifying and that our methodologies and processes are compliant. Their input is invaluable and allows us to bring improved structure to the overall R&D process” continued Allan Campbell.
After an initial meeting to discuss and plan the claim delivery process in more detail, the Gateley Capitus and Moore Concrete Products technical teams met on-site to identify the qualifying activities and discuss those projects in more detail. The technical team at Gateley Capitus were then able to take the information and structure this into a technical report to justify the claim with HMRC. The qualifying financial information was collated by the Gateley Capitus team in conjunction with Moore Concrete Products with further discussions to determine the correct qualifying expenditure to calculate the claim benefit.
“I found Gateley Capitus to be proactive in helping our senior management team structure and manage the delivery of our R&D claim, while ensuring compliance with the rules” explained Allan. “This has lifted the pressure in terms of HMRC compliance while ensuring we fully capture the tax benefits we’re entitled to through our R&D activities.”
Moore Concrete Products is constantly looking to design and develop new processes and procedures and to enhance their existing processes and procedures by identifying new technologies. Gateley Capitus’ technical team were able to use their industry expertise, knowledge and experience of the scheme to ensure this and all future claims are compliant with HMRC’s evolving guidelines.
“A good working relationship has been built up with the team at Gateley Capitus, their ongoing regular interaction with our senior management team and technical staff helps them maintain a good understanding of our business and R&D innovation on an ongoing basis” commented Allan. “Their expertise and professional approach gave us the confidence to enter into a longer-term contract with Gateley Capitus to continue to provide our R&D tax advisory services.”
