Gateley Belfast announces hat-trick of grass roots rugby sponsorship deals

Our Belfast office has announced a triple sponsorship deal to support grass roots rugby across the region.

The announcement comes in the run up to the 2024 Six Nations Championship which kicks off with Ireland facing France on Friday 2 February.

The three clubs, which are amongst some of the region’s oldest, benefitting from the partnership with Gateley include Holywood, Ballymena and Ballymoney RFCs.

Alison Reid, partner and head of Gateley Legal Northern Ireland, said: “As a business we believe passionately in supporting our local communities. Grass roots sports play an important role in society and we are delighted to work in partnership with three iconic rugby clubs and help them to attract, retain and nurture young talent.”

Peter Billingsley, house chairman and vice president for Holywood RFC, said: “The sponsorship from Gateley will assist us as we continue to implement and push through our plans for the club. We are rapidly becoming a focal point for players, members, their families and the wider local community by providing a family friendly environment to share in the love for the game of rugby as well as social interaction. The sponsorship will assist in allowing us to build upon our vision for the club and realise its full potential.”

Alan Thompson, chairman for Ballymoney RFC, said: “Being able to attract and retain members is the lifeblood of any club. Without the support of businesses such as Gateley, we would find it hard as a club to provide the necessary equipment and kit to players so their assistance is greatly appreciated.”

Peter Crabbe, president for Ballymena RFC, added: “Sponsorship is so important for amateur sports clubs, and Ballymena Rugby Football Club is no different. We greatly value our relationship with Gateley and indeed all our sponsors. We see our role as more than developing the rugby skills in our young members, but providing them with the necessary skills, guidance and opportunities to enhance their life chances outside of rugby. It is by building close relationships with companies like Gateley that the club can facilitate this.”

The Gateley Belfast office is located on Donegall Square East. It is home to 30 legal and professional services team members, all of whom are dual-qualified and can practise law and advise clients in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
