Gateley Belfast announces Dementia NI as its new charity partner for 2024

Our Belfast office has partnered with Dementia NI as its new chosen charity partner for 2024/25.
The partnership will see our Belfast office supporting a year-long programme of events and initiatives focused on active fundraising, volunteering and helping to raise awareness of the condition through key events such as Dementia Action Week in May and World Mental Health Day in October, amongst others.
Dementia is a progressive disorder that affects a person’s memory, their thought process and their ability to perform daily activities. Founded in 2015 by five people living with dementia, the charity is a local member-led organisation that focuses on raising awareness and driving positive change for those living with the condition.
Alison Reid, partner and office head of Gateley Legal in Northern Ireland, said: “As part of our responsible business ethos, we look to work with local organisations that are a force for good in society. We are delighted to partner with Dementia NI as one of our two chosen charity partners for the year. There are over 20,000 people living with dementia in Northern Ireland and that number is expected to double by 2040. There is a real need to raise awareness and understanding of the condition amongst wider society and we look forward to working with the charity and support its incredible programme of events and initiatives.”
Karen Kerr, Head of Engagement at Dementia NI, added: “We are delighted to partner with Gateley. Our goal is to raise awareness, challenge the stigma of dementia, and encourage people to start conversations about this much misunderstood condition. Together, we have developed a partnership plan to support our life changing Empowerment Services and are excited for the year ahead and the impact working together will make.”
