We have advised the selling shareholders and management on the sale of Road Traffic Solutions Limited (Road Traffic Solutions), a specialist traffic and event management solutions company to Netherlands-based BUKO Traffic and Safety (BUKO), a leading provider of outsourced traffic and safety management solutions.
The deal, which is backed by European private equity firm Equistone, is BUKO’s first foray into the UK market as part of its targeted buy and build expansion strategy into neighbouring European countries.
Road Traffic Solutions was established in 2004 and has provided bespoke traffic management and stewarding services to some of the country’s most prestigious festivals, historical events and infrastructure projects including the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, London Marathon, London 2012 Olympics, the Farringdon Crossrail station project and HS2.
Our team was led by corporate partner Leigh Whittaker, assisted by Victoria Brown, Richard Sealy, Richard Clitherow and Rachel Palmer.
Ben Dexter, Owner and Chairman, Road Traffic Solutions, said: “With BUKO, Road Traffic Solutions becomes part of a strong, reputable group with a shared culture and similar business values revolving around safety, compliance and good employership.
“We were delighted with the support from Leigh and his team at Gateley who have an excellent reputation in the market and worked collaboratively with all the parties concerned to ensure the deal completed as quickly as possible.”
Leigh Whittaker, added: “We are pleased to have supported Ben and Richard on this important transaction. The addition of Road Traffic Solutions to the BUKO family creates a real European powerhouse and reaffirms the UK as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment.”
